As crisp autumn air rolls through the northern suburbs, your backyard hearth becomes the favorite gathering spot, and the experts at Lighting by Fox in Glenview, IL, know how to make those nights unforgettable. While flickering flames supply plenty of warmth, they cast harsh shadows that leave seating walls and walkways dark. Layering dedicated outdoor lighting around your fire pit creates an inviting, balanced ambiance while keeping your patio safe for chilly evening entertaining. Here is how low-voltage hardscape and step lights transform your space. Shop today.
Define Seating Walls with Low-Voltage Hardscape Lights
Tucking slim, low-profile fixtures under the coping of stone retaining walls or built-in benches casts a soft, glare-free wash downward. This grazing effect showcases the rich texture of your masonry without overpowering the fire’s glow. Because low-voltage LED systems operate on gentle 12-volt current, they are energy-efficient, easy to zone on dimmers, and simple to run alongside existing patios.
Ensure Safe Footing with Recessed Step Lights
Moving between your indoor warmth and the outdoor hearth often means navigating sunken patio levels, deck transitions, or lawn grade changes in the dark. Recessed step fixtures cast a clean beam directly across stair treads. They eliminate blinding glare at eye level, ensuring guests can safely move hot drinks and firewood across your yard without missteps.
Test Fixture Finishes and Beams in Person
Color temperature and build quality make all the difference when pairing fixtures with natural firelight. Visiting our lighting showroom allows you to test color temperatures in person; a warm 2700K beam blends seamlessly with natural flame, whereas cooler whites clash. Stepping into a local lighting store also gives you a firsthand look at durable cast-brass and powder-coated finishes engineered to survive freezing Illinois winters.
